Our handsome guy is growing so fast. He has had a lot of milestones in his 8th month. He has officially said his first word and it is... Momma! He continues to be a really happy baby. He has, however started showing a temper when you take toys away from him. He has a distinctive personality coming through. He is a very "busy" boy. Always has to have something in his hands. He has been pushing away and refusing his bubba lately. It turns out that he just doesn't like to sit still for that long. He has also been fighting sleep, thinks he might miss something while he's sleeping. When he finally does get to sleep he is most comfortable on his side now.
And... he has started crawling! Yes, he is mobile now. Look out! He started out by getting up on his knees and rocking back and forth. Then he was spinning in circles, reaching for his toys. He moved on to slowly scooting and finally now crawling, fast and with a purpose. He likes to sit and pick his own toys out of his basket. And he is starting to try to pull himself up to a standing position.
He has been waving "hi" and "buh bye". Sometimes he gets so excited and he waves with both hands. He claps his hands, not yet on demand. He likes to imitate us. He coughs when we cough, he stretches his arms when we stretch, he raspberries when we raspberry, and he screams when we scream. And he does love to scream.
He has 8 teeth at 8 months! He puts anything that he can into his mouth. We tried puffs for the first time this month. He was very coordinated with picking them up and even brought them to his mouth, but he was not so sure that he liked the texture. He made a really sour face and decided that he was not ready for puffs. We'll try again soon. He likes sipping water and juice from big cups. He thinks he's a real big guy. He's not real keen on the sippy cups yet, we're still working on that.
He often will act shy when visitors come over and it takes him a little while to warm up and be vocal around strangers. But we know the real baby. He is a sweet boy and we are excited to be watching all the new developments that seem to be happening all too fast.
